    This is going to be a great day for football I said at 08:00 am even with the forecast being rain all day. Look it's not going to dump two feet of snow on the greater St. Louis area. It is just going to rain today. I arrived at the Francis Olympic Stadium at 12:30 pm and game time is set for 1pm. I looked and the gates were closed it was raining off and on for a few hours. "What happen?" is what I was thinking. "Lightning 30-minute delay." This is the NCAA standard for inclement weather. That means 1:15 pm start time. The NCAA rule is as follows: NCAA Inclement Weather Rule - The NCAA has established guidelines for handling inclement weather during college football games. The rules are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes and support staff, as well as to maintain the integrity of the game. Here are two of the key points of the NCAA's inclement weather rules: Lightning Strikes - if lightning strikes within an 8-10-mile radius of a stadium, play is suspended. Teams must wait 30 continuous minutes after the last lightning strike before resuming play. Game Continuation - No game will be skipped, and each game will continue in the order it is scheduled to play. If weather changes the date, the rescheduled game will still precede any future games. (NCAA) "Sometimes, the weather delay is early enough in the game to justify just canceling it and throwing out the result. If the delay occurs later in the game, and that game is trending towards a particular outcome, it can be called a win for one team. (Alex Kennedy (PFSN) (Pro Football Network)) The long game delay has been eight hours and thirty-five minutes between Virginia Tech vs Purdue. 

     Today's Weather Delay was over two and half hours with a 1pm kickoff not taking place until 3:38pm. The rain never stopped and neither did the lightning with 09:53 left in the second half the game was delayed once again. The score at the time of stoppage was 17-0 Wash U ahead in the fall soaker. Which by the way would be the final score. There were talks of a halftime decision should the weather continue to be a problem. The team that was a clear winner at halftime would get the win. As referenced earlier the game was trending toward Wash U being the clear winner. All weather decisions are made with the best interest of the Universities, players and fans/spectators. Any conditions being deemed inclement weather hail, snow, rain, or lightning shall interrupt play and or cause a delay of play.
