Giro Della Montanga 2025
The Hill (Little Italy) St. Louis, Missouri, USA
In the late 1980's I met two guys in Denver, Colorado, USA. I first met Spencer when I lived at 13th and Ogden in Denver. Spencer is better known as "Big Sprocket." The other person is Gary of White Mountain Pottery, an avid photography buff, and bicycle racer. I went to a few race events with Gary and Big Sprocket was at a couple race events. I am from St. Louis and living in Denver, Colorado, USA. I was 20 years old or so. It was then that I attended my first Giro Della Montagna.
"The Giro Della Montagna began in 1986 and was the brainchild of lifetime resident, Joe Torrisi, With the help of the St. Louis Cyclones the event took a few years to gain momentum. It was held over the Fourth of July weekend to draw additional racers who were in town for the VP Fair Cycling racers Giro became the corner stone of the Gateway Cup in 1998 and more recently has been coordinated by the events group from Big Shark Bicycle Company. The Hill is pleased to continue this great relationship and is looking forward to many more years of Giro, Giro, Giro!" (Gateway Cup website)
