How's My Plasma Protein?

    The annual Light the Night 2025 in St. Louis, is when I thought about the way I was sent home from the Plasma Center for not having high enough protein in my blood. What's wrong with my blood? "See this number right here." "Ok," and I left. I failed my vitals intake numbers. "Try again tomorrow." "Nah, I be in a few days." I return and the numbers are low, but I am able to give plasma. It was explained to me that the number for my protein needs to be between 6.0 and 9.0. That means the number was below 6; 5.9 to be exact. Red square no plasma donation today. I thought I need to learn a little about Blood Cancer I am at a Charity for Cancer patient's event. Light The Night also called Leukemia & Lymphoma Society now partnered with Blood Cancer United. I was sent home three times in about a month without donating plasma. "Am I sick?" Something to do when I get home; I looked at the website at some point and learned a few things. First of all, I just gave plasma which is the protein and second, it's like blood it needs to replenish itself.

​The website says it takes two or three days to build back up after each donation. 

      "Plasma is the liquid part of your blood. There are two main blood proteins- albumin and globulins." Albumin - liver makes albumin protein in an adult is 3.5-5.0 per deciliter (g/dl) grams and Globulins - a normal range in an adult is about 2.0-3.5 g/dl.. If you add the two proteins together you get 5.5 to 8.5 protein per deciliter. High protein in blood means you have abnormally high levels of protein in your blood plasma. Liver or kidney condition and possibly other organ damage.  Check your A/G ratio 0.8 to 2.0. (Cleveland Clinic)

       That is not what brought me to the Light the Night 2025 in Forest Park on this night. Three years ago, I was asked to deliver an item at the park on a Saturday it was not normal, so I was curious. I grabbed my camera and went back to pick the pickup a little early. I was able to get a grouping of photographs and piqued my interest or curiosity. Blood Cancer United I think is new. Another question came to mind. "Does this interact with plasma since it says blood?" "OBVOUSLIY" I looked for the way it was connected. 

     "Myelofibrosis (my-ah-lo-fye-BRO-sis; MF) - is one part of a bigger group of blood cancers called myeloproliferative, or MPN's. In people with myelofibrosis, the spongy tissues inside the bones (the bone marrow) develop inflammation and scarring. This called bone marrow fibrosis, which interferes with the production of healthy blood cells. Myeloma - 1. Normal, healthy plasma cells are white blood cells that produce antibodies. Antibodies are part of the immune system and help the body to fight infections. 2. When plasma cells have DNA damage, they can overproduce. This can weaken the immune system and can lead to abnormal amounts of M-Protein that can damage your kidneys, cause bone loss, and also impact other areas of body."  (DARZALEX Faspro) When I was 38, I had to have a procedure done I gave organ and tissue samples. I was awake during the procedure. There was a crustation on my pelvic bone from the implanted device calcium covered over. The doctor asked if he could keep the crustation. I said "OK". He sawed it loose and with a chisel it cracked and popped loose. I took a piece of liver and some intestine.  Plasma Cancer or Blood Cancer attacks the cells of the blood it would seem too small to see. "These damaged (Cancerous) plasma cells rapidly spread and crowd out normal cells, forming cancerous tumors in the bone marrow or soft tissue." (DARZALEX Faspro (M-Protein- Myeloma Cells)) So donate tonight and Light the Night. This year's crowd was smaller due to weather, but it doesn't have to be dry and 75 degrees to donate. If you are not able to donate money donate plasma.
